Your day begins at the Temple of Heaven — not just a monument, but a place where emperors once came to pray for good harvests, and where the weight of centuries still hangs in the air. Wander through the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, whisper along the Echo Wall, and lose yourself in the tranquil imperial gardens before the city fully wakes.
From there, the tour moves north to the Drum Tower for a photo stop above the rooftops — a moment to take in Beijing's Central Axis before descending into its oldest living neighbourhood. Along Yandai Xiejie and into the lanes of Shichahai, the pace slows. You'll step into a local family's courtyard, roll up your sleeves, and make dumplings from scratch — then sit down together for a home-style lunch that no restaurant can replicate.
The afternoon belongs to old Beijing. A rickshaw carries you through narrow hutong alleyways, past weathered gates and potted plants, giving you a feel for the city that most visitors never find. The day ends on a high — literally — at Jingshan Park, where the climb to Wanchun Pavilion rewards you with the most iconic view in Beijing: the Forbidden City laid out in perfect symmetry below. A final stop at the Corner Tower brings the perfect close to a day that moved between two worlds.
