Your day begins at the heart of Chengdu's most iconic panda sanctuary — spend around 3 hours wandering through lush bamboo groves, watching giant pandas laze, tumble and munch their way through the morning. From there, the journey continues south to Leshan, where the world's largest stone Buddha awaits. Carved into a clifftop over 1,200 years ago, the 71-metre giant commands the confluence of three rivers — allow around 2.5 hours to take in its sheer scale and the surrounding UNESCO-listed landscape before heading back to the city as the sun sets over Sichuan.
